Bed and Breakfast Offers Spring Get-Away

The mild winter and early spring has us eager to be out of doors for yard work or to hit a few golf balls. Seeing the beautiful blooms and listening to the birds makes us think about a change in some of the winter habits we’ve developed. With the days gradually being daylight longer, we can walk outside and eat a lighter diet rather than the comfort foods often related with the cold.

As spring grows closer, one may want to take a mini-vacation break. Consider a Michigan get-away, stay at a Bed and Breakfast and explore an area new to the family. Lenawee County can be just the spot for such an outing.

Our community offers recreation, art & entertainment, dining, events of various kinds, attractions, sports, and shopping. Our beautiful towns of the county offer many parks, historic districts, yarn & bead shops, quilt shops, wineries, libraries, antique shops, gardens, rail dining, music, theaters, museums, golf, auto racing, water sports and much more.

Here at Heartwood Place Bed and Breakfast, each season offers a fresh scent of the woods with a beautiful view and a chance to be close to all that nature provides. The birds sing while the deer stroll the woods and drink at the pond. Often, the wild turkeys are not so wild as they perch on the deck.

Our repeat guests sit and reflect at the pond’s edge, the deck and the front porch. Sipping that first cup of coffee in the morning or an afternoon ice tea as you relax, allows you to read a book, take advantage of the free Wi-Fi, make new friends or visit with the family you are vacationing with.

A full home-cooked breakfast served family style at the antique dining table makes a great start to the day. I am anxious to know your dietary restrictions so I can provide a meal you’ll enjoy.

Graduations and weddings will be happening soon so why not stay at our Michigan B & B as you celebrate and make memories? Contact us at Heart Wood Place Bed and Breakfast to reserve your dates now!

Try A Foot Massage To Feel Better All Over

Foot MassageDo you spend much of your day on your feet? Many folks do just that, and yet they neglect their feet and proper care.

When was the last foot massage for yourself? No doubt you’ve heard people say “When your feet hurt, you hurt all over.”

Are you wearing the right size shoe and a shoe designed for the activity you are participating in? That’s where one needs to start and go from there.

A wonderful foot soak in Epsom salts at days end is so refreshing. Ahh, feels so good – but let’s go one better. Let’s have a foot massage and include reflexology.

Reflexology can include a one-half or hour session dedicated to the feet, with specific points on the feet and toes, worked gently by the therapist using his or her thumb. The client is made comfortable lying on their back on the massage table as the treatment is performed.

One may choose to have their feet paraffin dipped and or a pedicure following. You will leave with happy feet and much less stress.

Call today to schedule a foot massage appointment to make you feel better all over!

Develop Relaxing Breaks for Self Care

Self-care – Yes, self care. We have all heard the advice when on an airplane about putting the mask on ourselves first. We will be better at what we do no matter what that is if we take care of ourselves first. It isn’t being selfish it is being smart and practical. Adequate sleep, good nutrition, sufficient exercise and hydration, balance in work and relaxation are all ingredients essential to good health.

Take time for yourself, even if 20 minutes each day. That may be a bubble bath, listening to your favorite kind of music, read a book, practice yoga, stretch, be still and listen to the quiet. Take a deep breath and exhale slowly.

As you do these things don’t forget to turn off your cell phone and defuse any stress you may have. A cup of hot herbal tea or a glass of water, a scented candle are a nice added touch. For the muscle aches, you may add 2 cups of Epsom salts to the bath water. This calms the nervous system.

Don’t forget your largest organ – your skin. Apply a moisturizer following your soak. Body brushing is relaxing and removes dry, dead skin cells.

Keep in mind you will be a happier spouse, parent, employee or employer after putting yourself first, if even for 20 to 30 minutes daily.
